Penarth RFC Annual Dinner & Awards Night
Penarth RFC held their Annual Dinner & Awards night at Glamorganshire Golf Club last week. It was attended by 80 members, players and guests. After enjoying a meal prepared by Ben Gray they were entertained by comedian Stan Johns.
Awards were given to the following; Clubman of the Year – Alun Roach, our photographer; Most Improved Player – Matt Sutton; Cogan Coronation Supporters Player of the Year – Elliott Smith; and Player of the Year – James Beaton.
Thanks were given to Mike Gooding who has stood down as Chairman after 14 years. Speaking at the recent AGM Honorary Secretary Sara Siddall said “He has great passion for the club and spends a great amount of time doing things for the club whilst also working full time. I don’t think people realise the amount of time he spends working for the Rugby and Athletic Club and although I don’t think he’ll totally disappear from the club I am sure he will be greatly missed by everyone.”
Coach and player Mike Clare has been appointed as the new Chairman.
Pre season training has commenced on Tuesdays and Thursdays and players of all abilities and pedigrees are encouraged to join the club.
