Penarth Youth – Good Friday
Penarth RFC Youth play a select 15 from Spanish Club UE Santboiana on Good Friday at Penarth RFC
Penarth Youth officials are hoping for a bumper Holiday crowd when they play host to a select Spanish club 15 at the Athletic Ground on Good Friday.
It has been 31 years since the Barbarians played their last game at the Athletic field over the Easter bank holiday and although It was sad and Painful, it was inevitable as their Easter tour schedule had to be initially cut down and eventually abandoned for good when professionalism was introduced into the game.
On Good Friday, the 14th April, the annual fixture is again going to be fulfilled by the extremely talented and successful Penarth Youth side who this year take on a select 15 team from Spanish club Santboiana RC at the Wreck.
The youth team has taken up the mantle of the Easter game with great vigour, and have achieved some outstanding victories over the Past 4 years on the bank holiday, winning against both the Crawshays RFC Youth select team and the Cardiff and District Youth team.
This year has again been a great success for the Penarth team having won 19 out of their 21 games this season and have recently reached the Finals of both the WRU Youth Plate Cup and the East District Cup, which are to be played in the next few weeks.
The Good Friday match has always captured the interest of the people of Penarth and the youth committee are hoping that this year will be no different preparing for a large crowd at the Athletic Field for the match.
Entry will be £2 on the gate with a kick off time of 2.30pm.
